Policy & Procedures
The Duties of the Head Man
of the Sun Lodge
1. The Head Man is someone who works to create good will among the members, but it goes much more than that; when we have visitor's from other Clans, Tribes or Clubs come to Indian Creek Band it is the Head Mans job to make them welcomed and not to judge them on the rules and laws of their personal life.
2. It is also the Head Mans job to make sure that all members are happy and make them feel welcomed at all times. This does not mean to pass judgment on their way of living or how to do things.
3. It is mandatory that the Head Man be on time to all Board meetings, monthly meetings and events. The Head Man must always set a high standard for all the members, for the members must look up to the standards he sets.
4. The Head Man listens to the concerns of the Clan Chiefs and carries those concerns to the Principal Chief if it is necessary by him to do so.
5. To ask other men to help, not order, in doing this job.
6. Any expense that is made must be approved by the Board of Directors and turned in with a receipt showing the cost that has taken place. No money can be paid without approval from the Board of Directors. The job of Head Man is very important and carries high responsibility, trust and must be above board at all times. The Head Man, being Native American, must use and show the Laws of Totemism at all times. If he does not know the Laws of Totemismthen he should look for information in the Indian Creek Band Library or the main office.
