Medicine Bags have been used for thousands of years. The Medicine Bag is a personal item and most sacred. It's contents normally include, sage, sweetgrass and tobacco. Then the individual, will pray and smudge the objects personal to them. Some may include herbs. As we wear our medicine bags, if someone approaches us, and we feel they are about to touch or grab the medicine bag, we put our hand over it. We do not allow anyone to touch our personal Medicine Bag unless  we trust them with our life. Again it is a Sacred Object in our Culture and guarded.
